When the bag was close enough he managed to cut the cord
the reverse inscribed “Für Verdiesnt im Kriege 1914” (For Merit at War)
Mayer- also hallmarked with 18Kt Gold Gemsenkopf mark on right talon)
Prussia, Kingdom. A Landwehr Long Service Clasp, Ii Class Archive exhibiting a finely enamelled white(Landwehr Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse). Instituted 16 January 1842 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1842 1913 issue). Constructed of blackened magnetic metal, affixed to a bronze backplate with a horizontal pinback and a period original ribbon bearing the monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, unmarked, measuring 46 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
