the reverse with an inscription of “IN DANKBARER ERINNERUNG AN DIE BEI DEN BRANDE UNSERES RESIDENZSCHLOSSES ZU ALTENBURG AM 24
the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel wreaths with a tied bow at the bottom
naming his next-of-kin as George O'Connell
The front is completed by a vertical row of four gilt aluminum buttons on the right side
Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class Cross, by Wagner & Sohn Newly Listed including a 1914 Iron Cross(Roter Adler Orden, Kreuz IV. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1864 1918 issue). Constructed of silver with enamels, consisting of a Cross Patte with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a hand painted Prussian imperial eagle, the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, the twelve oclock arm topped by a sphere through which is loop a suspension
